Microturbine exhaust can be utilised for continuous hot air
World-leading turbine power generation systems
Pure World Energy utilises Capstone microturbines to deliver a wide range of heating efficiency solutions, including drying applications.
The exhaust gas produced by the microturbines provides a constant single-stream supply of high temperature heat (approximately 300°C), enabling direct utilisation for applications such as preheaters and dryers, as used, for example, in the brick and tile industry.
The exhaust is 17-18% oxygen and is free from oil, with an extremely low level of pollutants. The utilisation of this ‘clean’ source of heat is therefore uncomplicated and has no detrimental effects on the optimised functions of the applications, such as preheaters or dryers, which use this heat.
Combined Heat and Power (CHP) can be an ideal solution for industries where there is a continuous demand for simultaneous electricity and heat supply. Also, as industries such as brickworks have a definite electrical base load that must be maintained at all times, a microturbine can be used to supplant purchased grid power and provide significant energy cost savings of up to 40% off of the total energy cost.
